Lunch Program Absence: 403-817-3512 - Fatima Smidi
Absences
Our school has implemented a new system using PowerSchool to communicate absences. If your child receives an unverified absence, you will automatically receive both a phone call and an email notification to inform you promptly.
As we are concerned for your child’s safety, to report a student’s absence or late, please email copperfield@cbe.ab.ca or call the school on our Absence Line at 403-817-3512 ext. 1 by 8:00am . Both these options are available 24 hours.
This new process is designed to help keep you informed in a timely manner to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.
Lunch Program Absence
If your child will not be attending the lunch program for any reason, please send a note or phone call to Fatima Smidi (Lead Supervisor) at 403-817-3512.
Late Policy
Students who arrive at school late are to report to the office for a late slip before going to class. An “excused” late is defined as a medical appointment or other event of that status. All other late arrivals are considered “unexcused”. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact the school office.
Doctor & Dental Appointments
It is requested that appointments be made, if possible, outside of school hours. Children miss instruction that is impossible to make up if they are taken out during school hours. If this cannot be avoided, we ask that a note explaining the reason and time be sent to the teacher. Parents should meet their child at the school office to sign them out.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off
Please avoid picking up your children before the designated lunch or afternoon dismissal times. The final minutes of the morning and afternoon are important organizational times for students and teachers.
Attendance Expectations at the CBE
Regular and punctual attendance is foundational to student learning, academic achievement and long-term success. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students applies to all students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
