Dear Copperfield Families,
We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Thank you to the students, Copperfield School Fundraising Association, staff, and families for your incredible support of the 2023/2024 Read-A-Thon. I was truly blown away by the total number of minutes read by students and the generous donations made by families in support of the Copperfield School Read-A-Thon. The $15 000 raised will be used to purchase decodable reading books that align with the new Kindergarten-6 curriculum, and we will increase the number of available chapter books, non-fiction and higher-level reading material for all students.
Thank you to the Copperfield School Fundraising Association volunteers who spent hours tallying the minutes read and counting all the donations. Through that process, they have determined the following awards for students:
Most Minutes Read:
Principal for the Day – Caylex in Grade 5
Assistant Principal for the Day – Alex in Grade 5
Top Fundraiser - Indigo Books Gift Card
Kindergarten – Violet
Gr. 1 – Devon
Gr. 2 – Hailey

Gr. 4 – Marcel
Gr. 5 – Russell
Read-A-Thon Participation Random Draws for a gift card to Indigo Books

The following top readers in each classroom will have the opportunity to be the teacher for the day.

Gr. 2 – Ayaan, Brady, Ira, Julian, Elisa

I would like to congratulate all students on their participation throughout the Read-A-Thon and for an amazing two weeks of fun reading activities.
Copperfield has heart!
Warm regards,
Colette Pedde

TRAFFIC
Morning drop-off and after school pick up can be some of the busiest times around our school building. U-Turns and double parking is creating an unsafe situation for your child and for the other drivers. Please choose safety over convenience and take the extra time to find a safe spot to pull over and park.
PICTURE DAY
Individual Spring Pictures will be taken on April 16. There will be no retakes.
YEARBOOKS
Yearbooks are now on sale for $25. Deadline to purchase a yearbook is April 25 and they will delivered late-June. Please check your history to see if you have already purchased one. To order a yearbook, follow these steps:
Log into your MyCBE account
- Select Fees, Waivers and Service Registrations
- Click on optional fees

WAIVERS
No child is ever denied access to an education in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) because of an inability to pay. If you cannot afford the fees, there are several ways to qualify for a central fee waiver.
Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.
More information can be found on the Fee’s and Waivers page.
