 Dear Copperfield Families,

We’ve had another great week of learning at Copperfield School! With the warmer weather, it's wonderful to see many students riding their scooters and bikes to school. A friendly reminder for students to bring a lock and use the designated racks to secure their personal items. There are bike racks on both the east and west sides of the building, and scooter racks are available by the Grade 4 doors. For everyone's safety, students are reminded to walk their bikes and scooters on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.

As you may have heard, our school bell times will change from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to align with bus transportation eligibility at Copperfield School. Please note that CBE, not Copperfield School itself, sets these schedules due to the complexity of organizing transportation across multiple schools. If you live outside of the 1.6 km walk zone, your child will be eligible for yellow school bus transportation. Eligible families will receive an email regarding transportation registration and proposed fees. Transportation registration is available through MyCBE. (If you don’t have an account, click here to learn how to create one.) Families must register by Sunday, June 8, 2025, for students to be added to bus routes for the start of the next school year. If necessary, transportation can be canceled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

With increased traffic and bright sunny mornings, it's a great time to remind drivers to be aware of students walking or riding bikes and scooters to school. U-turns and double parking create unsafe situations for everyone. All drivers must approach crosswalks with caution. Please prioritize safety over convenience and take the extra time to park in a safe spot.

Our Copperfield School Council and School Fundraising Association are invaluable members of our school community. Our council members guide decision-making, organize and support school activities, and provide learning materials and opportunities for our students. A big thank you to our council members for the wonderful staff appreciation treats this week and their continued dedication and support of our students. Our next school council meeting is on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for community members to stay informed about school happenings and upcoming events.

Once again, thank you for your continued support! Copperfield has heart!

Warm regards,
Colette Pedde
Principal, Copperfield School

 2025/2026 School Year Planning

As we begin class lists for the upcoming school year, we would like to remind you to let us know as soon as possible if your child will be moving to a new school for the 2025/2026 school year. Email the school at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca with your plans and we will assist you with the next steps.

All students K-4 will automatically be transferred to the next grade, providing they are still residing within the Copperfield community.
