Dear Copperfield Families,
With the arrival of spring, we are beginning to enjoy warmer temperatures. Our classes are excited to observe seasonal changes in our outdoor learning spaces. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the varying temperatures throughout the day.
We are also looking forward to welcoming Alien In-Line Skating, which begins next week. This engaging program provides students with the opportunity to develop new skills and enjoy an active sport as the warmer weather approaches.
It has been wonderful to see so many students riding their bikes and scooters to school! Please remind your child to bring a lock and secure their items in the designated racks. Scooter-specific racks are located on the east side of the school. For everyone’s safety, students are asked to walk their bikes and scooters while on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, having accurate enrollment numbers is essential. If your child will not be returning to Copperfield School in the fall, please contact us at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca.
Thank you for your continued support.
Copperfield has heart!
Warm regards,
Colette Pedde Allyson Heggie
Principal Assistant Principal
ARE YOU MOVING?
It is that time of year we are starting the planning for our next school year. All current Kindergarten to Grade 4 students registered at Copperfield and have not moved out of the area are registered here for the next school year. Grade 5 students registered at Copperfield and have not moved, are registered at Dr. Martha Cohen. Registration is based on where the student lives. We are near capacity therefore if you have moved or are moving out of Copperfield and haven’t already informed us, you will need to email copperfield@cbe.ab.ca to let us know. We will give you the next steps. For a smooth transition for your child, we recommend emailing the school as soon as you are aware you are moving.
PICTURE DAY
Individual Spring Pictures will be taken on April 15. There will be no retakes.
Proofs will be sent home in the next several weeks. They are optional to purchase and we recommend purchasing through their online portal for your best options.
TRICKSTER RESIDENCY
A HUGE thank you to our wonderful School Council for generously sponsoring our upcoming Trickster Drama Residency with the Trickster Theatre!
During this exciting residency, each class will work daily with a Trickster artist to explore drama, storytelling, and the use of props. Students will collaborate to create a short skit, which they will proudly perform at the end of the week.
A volunteer sign-up will be shared by Trickster Theatre for parents/guardians who are approved to volunteer at our school. We encourage anyone interested to watch for this opportunity to be part of this creative experience.

WAIVERS
No child is ever denied access to an education in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) because of an inability to pay. If you cannot afford the fees, there are several ways to qualify for a central fee waiver.
Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.
More information can be found on the Fee’s and Waivers page.
DOGS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
We would like to remind you that the City of Calgary dog bylaw states that no dog can be in or on school grounds, playgrounds, or sports fields. Thank you for being mindful of this bylaw.
