UPDATE
It has been a wonderful week of learning and celebration at Copperfield School. December is always a busy time for everyone that includes special traditions and celebrations for many of our families. Thank you to all of the volunteers who have been in to help practice the scripts and help the students to paint the backgrounds for the concert. Thank you for showing us that “Copperfield has heart” every day and for helping to make the world around us a better place. Happy Holidays!

GIVING TREE – collecting donations until December 19
This is just a reminder we will continue to collect donations for the Giving Tree until Friday, December 19. Thank you for your support with this project!
ABSENCE REPORTING
If you will be absent the last week of school before winter break, or the first week back after winter break remember to email the school at, copperfield@cbe.ab.ca please do not email teachers directly.
LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found is overflowing. Is your student missing an item, have them check the lost and found. Remember to label all items as we do check weekly for names and return those labelled. All remaining lost and found will be donated on December 19 at noon.
SAFETY REMINDER – STORM PONDS
We ask parents to please remind students to stay off the Storm Pond near the school as it is not safe to be on. CLICK HERE for further information from the City of Calgary.
Storm ponds look like natural ponds however they do not function the same. They collect runoff to protect communities from overland flooding and help clean water before returning it to the river.
Unlike a normal pond, water levels are constantly changing which creates unstable air gaps between the ice and water, weakening the ice in the winter.
Storm ponds also contain sediment and contaminants which also weaken the ice. The ice thickness on a storm pond is always unpredictable.
Any recreational activity, in winter or summer, on or in these ponds is not safe and is strictly prohibited under the Stormwater Bylaw.
