Non-Instruction Day – No School for Students

Dear Copperfield Families,

We have had another great week of learning at Copperfield School, and we would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all our families who supported our annual Read-A-Thon. The prize winners will be announced in early April. The funds raised will go towards purchasing additional decodable and leveled reading materials for our students.

As you know, morning drop-off and after-school pick-up are some of the busiest times around our school. We have noticed an increase in U-turns and double parking, which creates an unsafe situation for both students and other drivers. Please choose safety over convenience and take the extra time to find a safe spot to park. Also, a friendly reminder that morning supervision and soft entry begin at 8:05 a.m., and students should not be arriving before that time. Likewise, students should not remain at school after dismissal unless they are supervised by a family member.

If your child will be absent or late, please be sure to report it. You can email us at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca or call our attendance line at 403-817-3512, extension 1 to leave a message. If your child will be absent for several days, please notify the school with the dates of their extended absence. For absences of 8 days or more, an Extended Absence Form must be completed by a legal guardian.

Finally, a reminder from the City of Calgary bylaws regarding dogs: they are not permitted on school grounds, in playgrounds, or on sports fields. For the safety of everyone, please keep your dog at home or in the car while picking up or dropping off students.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we wish you all a wonderful Spring Break!

Copperfield has heart!

Warm regards,
Colette Pedde
Principal, Copperfield School

WAIVERS

No child is ever denied access to an education in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) because of an inability to pay. If you cannot afford the fees, there are several ways to qualify for a central fee waiver.

Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.

More information can be found on the Fee’s and Waivers page.
