Update
It has been another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Our Grade 3 classes hosted a very moving Terry Fox Assembly which prompted reflection about being courageous and taking risks. Following the assembly, the students did a great job participating in the Terry Fox Run around the Wildflower Pond. We continue to have busy weeks ahead. Next week Copperfield students will experience our first Lockdown and Fire Drill practice of the year.
Our staff are excited to welcome families into our school for Parent/Teacher conferences next Thursday and Friday. You will be able to schedule your conferences through your MyCBE account. The booking site will be open on Thursday, September 19 at 6:00pm and close September 26. September conferences are an important component of our reporting process to parents. This first conference is designed as an opportunity for parents/guardians to highlight information about their child and to meet their child’s teacher. Prior to conferences, families are encouraged to think about your child’s academic areas of strength, areas for growth, effective learning strategies and goals for the year to share during the conference. We look forward to connecting with all families this week.
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation across Canada. Copperfield staff and students will engage in learning opportunities throughout the week of September 23 to September 27 to honour Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day. Learning within classrooms and through assemblies will focus on honouring and establishing awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters.” Our Grade 4 students will be hosting an assembly on Wednesday, September 25 at 1:30pm honouring Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day. All students will be invited to wear orange on September 25, 2024.
Have a great weekend. Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Colette Pedde
Principal, Copperfield School
