UPDATE

It has been another great week of learning at Copperfield School. We would like to extend a big thank you to our School Council for all the wonderful opportunities they provide for our students! In addition to the Council’s substantial technology and music donations this fall, the Council has also recently approved covering the costs of transportation for two field trips per class, purchasing pickleball equipment, as well as additional floor hockey and ringette sticks for our Physical Education program. Our students are loving playing pickleball so much that Mr. Parsons has extended the unit! Much of this funding comes from the Casinos that they host every two years. The Copperfield Fundraising Association is hosting a Casino on February 8 and 9 and is still looking for volunteers. Further information is provided below. We appreciate your support!

Parents and Guardians of students in all grades will have access to view student report cards starting Monday, January 27 through their MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Teachers may also share learning progress through parent/teacher conferences, your child’s daily work and assignments, and other ongoing communication with you.

On-Going Student Assessment

In addition to report cards, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways. Assessment happens every day, in every classroom, throughout the school year. Assessing a student’s progress is one of the most important ways we support the continued learning of our students. The CBE has developed some resources related to assessment and report cards to help families learn more about their child's learning.

Curriculum Information for Parents

We recognize that parents play an important role in shaping the way their children view learning. Alberta Education’s My Child’s Learning Resource page provides an overview of the curriculum for Kindergarten to High School. This resource will provide you with an understanding of Alberta’s curriculum and related information for your child. Specific curriculum areas and outcomes that are reflected on the report card can be explored in detail. This will also help you discover what your child is learning, how they are being assessed, and what resources are available to help students be successful from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Recorders (Grade 3, 4 & 5 only)

This year the recorder unit will begin in February for all students in Grades 3, 4 and 5.  The school has a limited number of loaner recorders however they would only be used during class time. We recommend each student order a recorder if they do not already own one. Cost of the recorder and music book will be $10.00, payable through your MyCBE account.

  1. Click on Student Fees and Service Registration
  2. Select School based optional fees
  3. Add Recorder to cart
  4. Pay for fee

All ordering for recorders must be in and paid for prior to Friday, January 31, 2025, to ensure your child has a recorder for February.

The book that comes with the fee will stay at home for practicing and the recorder is to 'live in your backpack'.

Registration for 2025/26 School Year

All students currently in Kindergarten to Grade 5 will automatically be transferred to the next school grade. NOTE: if you have moved out of, or will be moving out of, Copperfield for the 2025 school year please let the school office know at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca and we will let you know your next steps.

Kindergarten registration for the 2025/2026 school year began on January 13, 2025. Registration is done online through School Engage. For information on what documents you need, and what to expect during the registration process for Kindergarten Registration click here. As we are an at capacity school, please look at the lottery information which can be found here. To be included in the lottery, you will need to register before February 11, 2025, at noon.

The CBE has a rich variety of programs to personalize learning for students. A wonderful way to learn more about these programs is to visit the many open houses that take place throughout the year. To see the full calendar of open houses, including information on them, click here.
