Update

We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. All staff are very excited to welcome families to our March School conferences on Thursday and Friday of this week.  March conferences are designed as an opportunity for teachers to discuss learner strengths, areas for growth and strategies to support continued success with parents/guardians.  We look forward to connecting with all families during conferences.

Parents/Guardians please

  • Book a conference online through the conference booking site.
  • Think about your child’s academic areas of strength, academic areas for growth, effective learning strategies, and educational goals to help facilitate the conversation.
  • Make note of any questions you may have, so that you can discuss them during the conference.

Teachers will:

  • Share examples of student work, discuss learning successes, and identify next steps to promote academic and well-being growth.
  • Meet families in their classroom at their scheduled interview time.
  • Admit families into their interview at any time during the 15 minute conference window, however, teachers must end the interview at the scheduled time.
  • If families are unable to attend, an alternate arrangement can be made with the teacher for a telephone, video or in-person conference at an alternate date.

The Copperfield Read-a-Thon finished last week and I would like to thank the Read-a-Thon Committee for hosting an amazing event. Over the past two weeks, students participated in excellent literacy opportunities around the school, met with amazing guest readers who captivated our learners, and developed community through shared reading opportunities with peers. Members of the Copperfield Fundraising Society will be tallying up the minutes read and counting the generous pledges. Pledge forms and minutes read need to be tallied and sent back to the school by Thursday March 21 to be entered into the prize draws.  After spring break, we will share those totals and announce who has been awarded which prizes. Thank you to our entire Copperfield community for your participation and generosity.

As we begin our planning for next year it is helpful for us to have accurate enrollment numbers. If you know your child will not be returning to Copperfield School next year, please contact the office 403-817-3512 or email copperfield@cbe.ab.ca.

A reminder to families that Thursday March 21 is the last day of school for students before Spring Break. There is no school for students from March 25 – April 1 and the school will be closed during this time. Classes resume Tuesday, April 2 at 8:15 a.m. Have a wonderful break with family and friends.

Copperfield has heart!

Sincerely,

Mike Magowan
