UPDATE
It has been another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Our Grade 2 students hosted a wonderful Pink Shirt Day assembly emphasizing the importance of kindness. It was wonderful to see Copperfield students wearing pink and joining schools from across Canada to support bullying prevention awareness. Mr. Patry and I read the book Kindness Grows to each of the grade levels. I am extremely proud of the work students and staff have engaged in over the month of February learning about empathy, kindness and developing their understanding of Social/Emotional intelligence. Please ask your child about the work they have engaged in over the month of February and we know this is ongoing learning and central to our objective of creating a safe, caring, and welcoming space.
Let’s spring into Reading! The annual Copperfield School Read-A-Thon hosted by the Copperfield School Council and Fundraising Society is set to begin March 3-14, 2025. Students will bring home a Read-a-Thon Information page and pledge form, outlining all the key information and dates. Throughout the two week Read-a-Thon Copperfield students will participate in literacy games, special reading activities, themed days and special guest readers will join our classrooms. Thank you to the Copperfield School Council and Fundraising Society and all the volunteers that support this event, and all funds raised will be used to increase our literacy resources such as decodable books, phonemic resources, and home reading materials.
It is survey season. Please watch for a message via School Messenger next week inviting families to share their perspectives through an online survey open until March 21, 2025. We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. The message will contain a link to an engagement survey regarding our School Development Plan, as well as school fees and budgeting. You can access our School Development Plan, School Development Plan Results Report, and Report to Parents and Guardians on Fees in the About Us – Our School section of our school website.
Thank you for your support!
Copperfield has heart!
