Update

We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. The upcoming spring equinox, on March 20, will indicate the beginning of a new season. Motoyi (spring in Blackfoot) is a time of renewal and new beginnings. After a season of rest, the land comes to life with new growth, movement, and sounds.  This also serves as a reminder that Sunday March 10, 2024 Daylight Saving Time is observed and Albertans will move their clocks ahead one hour.

The constant melting and freezing cycles observed during the spring can create hazardous conditions around storm ponds in our community. We know storm ponds play an important role, and unlike a normal pond, water levels are constantly changing which creates unstable air gaps between the ice and water. Plus, water in these ponds contains sediment and contaminants, which weaken the ice. That’s why it’s not safe to skate, walk or play on storm ponds. As classrooms engage in community walks, pond safety continues to be part of our classroom reminders and discussions prior to these excursions. I encourage families to review safety precautions as the spring weather approaches.

Grade 1-5 School Conferences will be held on March 21 from 4pm-8pm and March 22 from 8am-12pm. Kindergarten School Conferences will be held on March 21 from 8am-8pm (no school for kindergarten students) and March 22 from 8am-12pm. School Conferences will be available for Parents/Guardians to book online using their MyCBE Account beginning March 14, 2024 at 6:00pm.

Copperfield has heart!

Sincerely,

Mike Magowan

Copperfield School Budget and Fees Engagement Survey

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together.  That is why we are asking you to share your perspectives about our School Development Plan, school budget and school fees.

The survey is open February 23 to March 20, 2024.

I encourage you to Review the School Planning Presentation prior to completing the survey.

Also, a reminder that our School Development Plan and Report to Parents and Guardians on Fees are accessible through our Copperfield school website, under the About Us – Our School tab

We encourage you to watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning (This video is also embedded in the survey itself)

Orders must be placed 6 days in advance and can be placed by creating an account or signing into your existing Healthy Hunger account and adding your student. Volunteer sign up for these events can be done here.
