Update

Our staff are excited to welcome families to our November Parent/Teacher Conferences this Thursday and Friday. November Conferences are an important component of our reporting process and provide an opportunity for teachers to share learning progress with families. This conference is designed as an opportunity for teachers to discuss learner strengths, areas for growth and strategies to support continued success with parents/guardians. We look forward to connecting with all families this week.

Parents/Guardians please:

  • Book a conference online through the conference booking site. Conference bookings close November 28 at 12:00pm. Visit How To Book a Conference for further instructions if you need assistance booking your conference.
  • Think about your child’s academic areas of strength, academic areas for growth, effective learning strategies, and educational goals, to help facilitate the conversation.
  • Make note of any questions you may have, so that you can discuss them during the conference.
  • All interviews will be kept to 15 minutes to ensure the conference schedule stays on track.

Teachers will:

  • Share examples of student work, discuss learning successes, and identify next steps to promote academic and well-being growth.
  • Meet families in their classroom at their scheduled interview time.
  • Admit families into their interview at any time during the 15-minute conference window, however, teachers must end the interview at the scheduled time.
  • If families are unable to attend, an alternate arrangement can be made with the teacher for a telephone, video or in-person conference at an alternate date.

The planning of the Copperfield Winter Celebration is well under way, and we ask that families please read the Winter Celebration Update that has been shared, as it contains key details that families will need to know. The Winter Celebration is a great learning opportunity for students, and we look forward to a great performance.

Copperfield has heart!

Sincerely,

Colette Pedde

Principal, Copperfield School

PARENT CONFERENCES

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. for Kindergarten on November 28, 4 p.m.-8 p.m. for Grade 1-5 and November 29 8 a.m.-12 p.m. for Kindergarten to Grade 5. Parent Conferences will be available to book online using your MYCBE Account until November 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Please visit How To Book a Conference for further instructions

FEES AND WAIVERS

System fees have been posted to your MyCBE account including instructional fees (Kindergarten to Grade 5) and lunchroom for those who stay at lunch time. These fees can be paid online through your MyCBE account or at the office, with an appointment. If you cannot afford fees, you may be eligible to have them waived. The CBE aligns with federal and provincial guidelines when assessing waiver applications. For more information about fees and waivers, information can be found here.

LOST AND FOUND

The lost and found is overflowing. Is your student missing an item, have them check the lost and found. Remember to label all items as we do check weekly for names and return those labelled. All remaining lost and found will be donated on November 29 at noon.

GOOD NEIGHBOUR

We are reminding families to please choose kindness over convenience. Do not park in crosswalks, in front of driveways, next to fire hydrants or in the staff parking lot. As winter has arrived, we are receiving more complaints and concerns from neighbours who are blocked out of their driveways. Thank you for your consideration.
