Update

It has been another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Throughout the school, you could hear the joy of learning with our Grade Buddies. Kindergarten and Grade 5 buddies were practising coding creating interesting moves and pathways in the Copper Gallery with our sets of Ozobots. Kindergarten students were taking part in “Reading Buddies” with the Grade 4 students.

We have had students starting to ask about Halloween. As in the past, Copperfield students are invited to dress-up in their Halloween costume during the afternoon of Thursday, October 31, except for morning Kindergarten who will dress-up during their morning class time. Students will put on their costumes after they return indoors from their lunch recess break. If you are picking your student up for lunch to help them in getting their costume on, please sign your child out at the office. Thursday continues to be a regular learning day with many school activities happening as usual. Please ensure that the costumes they wear permit for the students to still participate in school activities such as recess and gym while wearing their costumes. We ask that all costume weapons be left at home on this day and saved for the night of Halloween. Students are allowed to wear face paint all day if this is part of their Halloween costume, as we understand it can be difficult for families to get away during the lunch hour. Students who have a mask as part of their costume, will be asked to wear it on top of their head for school activities in the classroom and moving around the school for safety reasons. Classrooms may have some Halloween activities planned in the afternoon, and students may be invited to bring a personalized snack as part of this celebration. Teachers will communicate their plans with families via their weekly Friday update.

*Please don’t send whole class treats to hand out as we have many students with dietary restrictions, allergies and sanitization expectations makes this a challenging practice.

Have a great weekend! Copperfield has heart!

Kind Regards,

Colette Pedde

Principal, Copperfield School
