Update 

Thank you to all our Copperfield families and students for amazing start to the new school year. It was wonderful to reconnect with everyone and to welcome new students into our building and classrooms. On Monday, we hosted a short assembly to introduce the staff and sing our school song together as a school community. 

We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School.  Students will continue to become familiar with school routines and classmates, with a focus on building collaborative communities within their classrooms and our outdoor spaces.  Each Friday, you will receive a Weekly Update from your child’s teacher with the information for the week ahead. Ms. Heggie and I will be outside in the mornings and after school each day, and we look forward to connecting with families throughout the year. We wish you a wonderful long weekend!

Meet the Teacher 

Please save the date for our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 10. Food trucks will be on-site beginning at 5:00 p.m.—feel free to bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the playground before the evening's activities. Teachers will host an informal drop in, in their classrooms from 6:00 – 7:00pm. We will also be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in the Gallery. We’re excited to kick off the year with connection, community, and a strong start together! 

Annual Forms 

Demographic and Annual Authorization forms are due Sept 14

You have already received an email from the Calgary Board of Education about the forms required to be completed online. Please note many school forms will now be done online through your MyCBE account. You will need to have a MYCBE account. Instructions are available here. 

Noon Supervision  

Registration is required for students to stay for the lunch time. Registration is through your MyCBE account.

Medication

For all students with EpiPens, inhalers, and any medication stored at the school. As a reminder, no medication can be stored in your students classroom a Student Health Plan must be completed and returned with the medication to store in the school office.

Traffic Safety

We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all children in our community. Please refrain from making U-turns in the middle of the street and avoid jaywalking. For everyone’s safety, we strongly encourage the use of designated crosswalks when crossing the street. Your attention to these important safety measures helps protect our children and sets a positive example for them. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Bike, Scooters and Skateboards on CBE Property  

It is very exciting to see the number of students riding their scooters and bikes to school. It is important for students to bring a lock and use the designated racks to secure their items. For everyone’s safety students are reminded to walk their bike, scooter and/or skateboard while on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.

Demographic Forms

In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

  • Demographic Verification - 2026-27 – This required form is an Alberta Education and Childcare requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information. 
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 – This form becomes available and is required to complete if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2026-27 – Combines the following forms:
    o School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    o Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    o Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
    o Consent for Student Participation in Annual CBE Surveys – these surveys support school and system planning and help improve programs and supports offered to students
    o Parental Opt-In for Notifiable curriculum for students in grades 3 to 9 – written consent of parents prior to providing instructions or materials that deal primarily and explicitly with human sexuality, gender identity or sexual orientation. Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is granted.

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account used to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, click Create a MyCBE Account on the MyCBE page. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1. sign in to your MyCBE account

2. click on the SchoolEngage icon

3. select the form

4. complete or review and update the form

5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school

6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sep. 14.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education and Childcare to confirm student funding.
