It was another wonderful week of learning here at Copperfield School! This week, our students explored the themes of Truth and Reconciliation and learned about Phyllis Webstad, the creator of Orange Shirt Day. Our Grade 4 students will continue this recognition by hosting our Orange Shirt Day Assembly on Tuesday, September 29 at 1:30pm. Families are invited to attend.

All children staying for lunch are required to register for the noon supervision through your MyCBE account. The fee charge will be uploaded to your MyCBE account in October.

The Annual General Meeting will take place on October 28 at 6:30 PM. Agenda will be posted on the website 2 weeks prior.
CASINO FUNDRAISING
On October 22 & 23, we’ll be at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino raising money for our school. Our last casino generated $80,000. This is money going directly back into our school and creating experiences, resources, and opportunities for our kids. No experience is needed. You’ll get training; it’s casual and fun, and food is provided! Volunteers can be friends or relatives, too. They do not need a school volunteer form or have a police record check.

ALBERTA EDUCATION LITERACY AND NUMERACY SCREENING PROGRAM 2026-27
For the 2026-27 school year, all Kindergarten to Grade 5 students are being assessed using provincially mandated screeners that measure a learner's proficiency in different literacy and numeracy skills. CBE teachers administer assessments at different points throughout the year. Over the last two weeks, our Grades 1-5 teachers have been administering the assessments and in January, Kindergarten students will participate in the assessments.
The results of the screeners do not impact a student's report card. Rather, they help teachers plan targeted interventions inside the classroom and monitor growth over time. Results will be shared with parents before the Parent Teacher Conferences on November 26 and 27.
