Update
Classrooms are keen to observe the spring changes occurring in our outdoor learning spaces, and hopefully we are finally moving towards the more favourable spring temperatures.
National Volunteer Week is April 15-19. Many volunteers work in our school every year and play an important role in supporting Copperfield students and our school. They work alongside students to support their academics, ensure that students are able to attend field trips and they support classrooms in preparing learning materials. Volunteers dedicate their time to support the learning commons, fun lunch, and snack days, and during special events like the Terry Fox Run or Activity Day. We want all our volunteers to know that we truly appreciate what you do every single day and on behalf of our students and staff; Thank You!
It is very exciting to see a number of students riding their scooters and bikes to school. It is important for students to bring a lock and use the designated racks to secure their items. There are scooter racks designed specifically for locking up scooters and they are available on the East side of the school by the grade 4 doors. For everyone’s safety students are reminded to walk their bike and/or scooter while on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.
As we begin our planning for next year it is helpful for us to have accurate enrollment numbers. If you know your child will not be returning to Copperfield School next year, please contact the office 403-817-3512 or email copperfield@cbe.ab.ca.
A reminder to families that Friday April 19 is a System Professional Learning Day and there is no school for students.
Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Mike Magowan
Burrowing Owl Fundraiser
As participants in the Conservation Champions Festival with the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, the grade 3 students in Mrs. Moravec’s and Mrs. Price’s classes, have chosen to support and educate others on the burrowing owl.
Copperfield School will be collecting donations starting on April 22 through April 26, 2024, to raise money for the “Head Starting Program” that is aimed at caring for and protecting burrowing owlets until they are stronger, and able to be released safely into the wild as adults. Our hope is that we will be able to raise over a thousand dollars towards this program.
For every $2 donation, your child will earn a classroom ballot. After the fundraiser is over, we will draw a ballot and the winning class will get the opportunity to play a game of dodgeball vs. the teachers and staff of Copperfield! The more toonies your class brings in, the more ballots your class gets, and the more ballots your class gets, the better the chances of your class winning the opportunity to play dodgeball against the teachers!
