UPDATE
It has been a wonderful week of learning and celebration at Copperfield School. December is always an extremely busy time for everyone, and it is a month that includes special traditions and celebrations for many of our families. Thank you to all the families who came to our Winter Concerts this week to celebrate the season. Our students did such a wonderful song singing and playing the instruments, they have been learning to play in music class. We are also so proud of our MCs who worked hard at memorizing their lines. We look forward to welcoming our Kindergarten Families on Tuesday for their celebration as well.
Our students have also been creating special cards to share with seniors living in neighbouring facilities. We hope these simple acts of kindness will help all of us to understand the differences we can make in our world. I continue to be in awe of the kindness and generosity of our community. Thank you for showing us that “Copperfield has heart” every day and for helping to make the world around us a better place. Happy Holidays!

ABSENCE REPORTING
If you will be absent the last week of school before winter break, or the first week back after winter break remember to email the school at, copperfield@cbe.ab.ca please do not email teachers directly.
ATTENDANCE
The Calgary Board of Education recognizes the strong positive correlation between attendance and a student’s success in school. Regular attendance sets students on the path to reaching their full potential. At CBE we use a whole school approach to attendance to strategically allocate our resources and create a positive culture where students feel a sense of belonging.
Tips for improving your child’s school attendance:
- Listen and show an interest in your child’s day.
- Encourage your child to do well in school and praise their success.
- Help your child maintain daily routines such as eating breakfast, turning off electronics two hours before bedtime and going to bed early.
- If possible, try to schedule dental and medical appointments after school hours or on days off from school.
- Send your child to school unless sick.
- Ask for help from the school before the problem gets too big. No problem is too small.
As always, if your child will be absent from school, please email the school at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca or call the attendance line at 403-817-3512 ex 1. Please do not email the teacher directly.
