School begins for the 2025/2026 school year

Dear Copperfield Families,

It has been another wonderful week of learning at Copperfield School! Our Kindergarten students hosted their Sports Activity Day on Thursday, and we appreciate all of the great volunteers who helped make it such a great day. A big thank you to the School Council for providing freezies to close off the fun.

Our Grade 1–5 Sports/Activity Day has been postponed until Monday, June 23. We are still seeking volunteers to help support the various activity stations organized by our staff. Please note that all volunteers must have current Security Clearance with the CBE. For safety and liability reasons, we kindly ask families to arrange alternative care for siblings who do not attend Copperfield School on this day. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Mr. Parsons, our Physical Education teacher at jrparsons@cbe.ab.ca.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year, we want to ensure the best possible learning environment for every student. If you have any specific educational requests or important information regarding your child’s learning needs, strengths, or areas for support, please CLICK HERE to share them with us. We also carefully consider your child’s social interactions and friendships when making classroom placements to support a positive and productive environment. While we welcome your input, please understand that we cannot guarantee placement with a specific teacher. Our priority is to create balanced and effective learning groups that benefit all students.

It is the time of year when we say farewell to some cherished staff members. We wish all the best to Mrs. Abbas, Mrs. Boe, Mrs. Brice, Ms. Elbaz, Ms. Heaney, Mrs. Hornaday, Mr. Marino, Ms. Reilly, Ms. Thumm and Mrs. Tonkin. We wish you all the best on your next adventures.

We wish a warm welcome to our new staff who will be joining our school. Welcome Ms. Armstrong, Ms. Ellis, Ms. Smith, Ms. Robinson, Ms. Suchan-Ponder and Ms. Wilson.

Back to School

Our website has been updated with important back to school information found here.

Leaving Early for the Summer

Is your family leaving the school early for summer vacation before June 26, or are you coming back after the first day of school, Sept 2? If so, please complete an extended absence form and email to the school at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca. This ensures all students leave the school with their indoor shoes and any school work that has accumulated over the year. Anything not claimed by noon Thursday June 27 will be recycled.

Lost and Found

The lost and found is again overflowing! Ask your student to check to see if they have anything in it! We do try to return items that have names on them, however it is always a good idea to have your child look. All lost and found left unclaimed will be donated noon Thursday June 27.

Fees and Waivers

All fees have been posted to your MyCBE account and are due.

Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.

More information can be found on the Fees and Waivers page of the website.

Yearbooks

We have a limited number of yearbooks available in the office. The cost for the yearbook is $25. Email copperfield@cbe.ab.ca if you would like your student to have a 2024/2025 yearbook.

Calgary's Child Magazine

Summer may not have officially arrived just yet, but the Summer 2025 edition of Calgary’s Child Magazine is ready and it’s bursting with ideas to help families make the most of the season ahead!

All Sport One Day

All Sport One Day is a fantastic, free sport discovery event designed specifically for children and youth aged 6 to 17. It offers a unique opportunity for young participants to try out a new sport or physical activity in a fun and supportive environment.

Whether your child is curious about learning a new skill or simply eager to get active, this event is an excellent way to introduce them to the world of sports without any financial commitment. By participating, kids can explore different sports, discover their interests, and potentially find a new passion, all while making new friends and staying active.

All Sport One Day 2025 will be held on Saturday, June 21 and Saturday, Aug. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Follow @SportCalgary on social media or sign-up for their newsletter for updates!

Sessions run every half-hour and last approximately 1 hour.

Session Dates and Times

Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 5 – 8 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
