Update
Thank you to all our Copperfield families and students for amazing start to the new school year. It was wonderful to reconnect with everyone and to welcome new students into our building and classrooms.
We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield school. Students will continue to become familiar with school routines and classmates, with a focus on building collaborative communities within their classrooms and our outdoor spaces. Please ensure you are checking your child’s classroom blog to learn about daily events, valuable information and reminders. We are excited to host our first Welcome Back to School Assembly on Thursday September 7. Our students will gather as a learning community for the first time to meet new staff, sing under the guidance of Ms. Bohan and listen to a story from Mr. Patry and Mr. Magowan.
Mr. Patry and myself will be outside in the mornings and after school each day, and we look forward to connecting with families throughout the year.
Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Mike Magowan
Principal, Copperfield School
Copperfield School Planters
Over the summer a dedicated group of Copperfield parents generously volunteered their time to maintain the planters and garden spaces in front of our school. The planters were originally designed as traffic calming measures and were planted with native Alberta plant species this past spring. Thank you to those members who spent many hot hours weeding, watering, and caring for the front of this space, our Copperfield School Community truly appreciates your support. Thank you, volunteers!
Bike, Scooters and Skateboards on CBE Property
It is very exciting to see the number of students riding their scooters and bikes to school. It is important for students to bring a lock and use the designated racks to secure their items. For everyone’s safety students are reminded to walk their bike, scooter and/or skateboard while on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.
City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw
We would like to remind our community that according to the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, pets are not allowed on school grounds. We understand that all members of our community are responsible pet owners and consider their furry friends to be safe members of the family. However, it is in the best interest of all that we adhere to the above bylaw for the safety of the pet, the owner themselves, and most importantly our students. Interested students can quickly create unsafe situation for the pet and pets can create emotions of fear for others. The restricted area for pets includes the entire playing field, the grassed areas on school property and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances according to the bylaw. We appreciate your consideration and understanding.
CBE Forms Online and Copperfield Forms Required
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format are: Demographic Verification, Citizenship Information Update, and Annual Authorization. School Engage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account and is where these forms are located. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc. Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms found under Online Forms and School Registrations.
Copperfield school also requires several forms to be completed in addition to the CBE forms. You would have received an email from Copperfield School on Wednesday September 6 with a list of linked forms that we require all families to read, print and complete. These forms include Parent Viewpoint, Student Health Plan (if applicable), Volunteer registration forms. We ask for these forms to be returned by Tuesday September 12.
