Update
We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Thank you to the students, Copperfield School Fundraising Association, staff, and families for your incredible support of the 2023/2024 Read-A-Thon. I was truly blown away by the total number of minutes read by students and the generous donations made by families in support of the Copperfield School Read-A-Thon. The $17 032.00 raised will be used to purchase decodable reading books that align with the new k-6 curriculum, literacy manipulatives to support phonemic awareness and word work, and we will increase the number of available chapter books, non-fiction and higher level reading material for all students.
Thank you to the Copperfield School Fundraising Association volunteers who spent hours tallying the minutes read and counting all the donations. Through that process, they have determined the following awards for students, and with permission from families I am sharing their names below:
Most Minutes Read:
Principal for the day – Hanna D. - (Dekoning)
Assistant Principal for the day – Viana A. - (Reilly)
The following students received a gift card to Indigo Books for being the top fundraiser within their grade:
Kindergarten – Teodore P. (Norrie)
Gr. 1 – Gibson S. - (Nishimura)
Gr. 2 – Noah G. - (Merkl)
Gr. 3 – Lily A. - (Molsberry)
Gr. 4 – Alexia S. - (Chernoff)
Gr. 5 – London P. - (MacQueen)
The following students were selected by random draw and received a gift card to Indigo Books for their participation in the Read-A-Thon:
Mark S. - (Ly AM)
Wyatt R. - (Moravec)
Delilah F. - (Norrie)
Jace B. - (Tonkin)
Nixon W. - (Dorish)
Mason A. - (Dekoning)
The top reader from each classroom will be notified by their classroom teacher and will be shared via their classroom blog. The top reader in each classroom will have the opportunity to be the teacher for the day, and that will be coordinated between the teacher, student, and family. I would like to congratulate all students on their participation throughout the Read-A-Thon and for an amazing two weeks of fun reading activities.
Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Mike Magowan
