Update

We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. Thank you to the many volunteers that have supported student activities thus far. We have seen volunteers support weeklong field trips, helping within classrooms and recently the special snack was a success because of our well-organized volunteer team. Thank you for your incredible dedication and time.

All staff are very excited to welcome families to our November parent/teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday of this week. November conferences are an important component of our reporting process and provide an opportunity for teachers to share learning progress with families. This conference is designed as an opportunity for teachers to discuss learner strengths, areas for growth and strategies to support continued success with parents/guardians. We look forward to connecting with all families this week.

Parents/Guardians please:

  • Book a conference online through the conference booking site.  Conference bookings close November 23 at 12:00pm. Visit How To Book a Conference for further instructions if you need assistance booking your conference.
  • Think about your child’s academic areas of strength, academic areas for growth, effective learning strategies, and educational goals, to help facilitate the conversation.
  • Make note of any questions you may have, so that you can discuss them during the conference.
  • All interviews will be kept to 15 minutes in order to ensure the conference schedule stays on track.

 Teachers will:

  • Share examples of student work, discuss learning successes, and identify next steps to promote academic and well-being growth.
  • Meet families in their classroom at their scheduled interview time.
  • Admit families into their interview at any time during the 15-minute conference window, however, teachers must end the interview at the scheduled time.
  • If families are unable to attend, an alternate arrangement can be made with the teacher for a telephone, video or in-person conference at an alternate date.

The planning of the Copperfield Winter Celebration is well under way, and we ask that families please read the Winter Celebration Update that has been shared, as it contains key details that families will need to know. The Winter Celebration is a great learning opportunity for students, and we look forward to a great performance.

Copperfield has heart!

Sincerely,

Mike Magowan
