Dear Copperfield Families,
With the arrival of spring, we’re beginning to enjoy warmer temperatures. Our classes are excited to observe the seasonal changes in our outdoor learning spaces. Please ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the varying temperatures throughout the day.
Earlier this week, the CBE shared an important update regarding Copperfield School’s bell times for the 2025–2026 school year. Starting next year, our school hours will be:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Fridays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (early dismissal)
This change will not impact the total number of instructional minutes students receive each day. However, adjustments will be made to our recess schedule. We will share more details about recess times in the coming weeks. These changes are connected to updates in yellow school bus transportation. Aligning bell times across schools helps improve transportation efficiency. In early May, the CBE will provide more information regarding transportation eligibility.
It's been wonderful to see many students riding their scooters and bikes to school! Please remind your child to bring a lock and secure their items in the designated racks. Scooter-specific racks are located on the east side of the school. For everyone’s safety, students are asked to walk their bikes and scooters while on school sidewalks and grounds before and after school.
As we begin planning for next year, having accurate enrollment numbers is essential. If your child will not be returning to Copperfield School in the fall, please contact email us at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca.
Lastly, a reminder that April 18 is Good Friday and April 21 is a System Professional Learning Day. There will be no school for students on those days.
Thank you for your continued support.
Copperfield has heart!
Warm regards,
Colette Pedde
Principal, Copperfield School
TRAFFIC
Morning drop-off and after school pick up can be some of the busiest times around our school building. U-Turns and double parking is creating an unsafe situation for your child and for the other drivers. Please choose safety over convenience and take the extra time to find a safe spot to pull over and park.
PICTURE DAY
Individual Spring Pictures will be taken on April 16. There will be no retakes.
