Classes Resume

Update - Welcome Back!

Dear Students and Families,

We are so excited to welcome everyone back to school! Our hallways are once again filled with the energy, laughter, and curiosity that make our school such a special place to learn and grow. We know the past few weeks have brought uncertainty and change, and we truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support throughout this time. Our staff is eager to reconnect with students, resume learning, and re-establish the routines that help everyone thrive. Together, we’ll make the remainder of the school year positive, productive, and filled with meaningful experiences for all.

Thank you to everyone who came to view our Halloween Parade. The Halloween parade was the perfect way to celebrate being back together—the halls were alive with colour, creativity, and excitement as students proudly showed off their costumes. The energy and joy in the building reminded us how special our school community truly is.

We are also thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our new Assistant Principal, Ms. Allyson Heggie! Ms. Heggie brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to supporting students, staff, and families. We are excited for the positive impact she will have in our school community.

We wish you a wonderful Fall Break.

Warm regards,

Colette Pedde

Principal, Copperfield School

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY

Lest We Forget! On Friday, November 7, our Grade 5 students will be hosting Copperfield School’s Remembrance Day Assembly in the Gym at 10:45am. By remembering, we pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces who served to defend our values and freedoms. We will take time to pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict, and peace. As part of this very sombre and important assembly, students who participate in a Service Club (Cadets, Cubs, Scouts, Girl Guides, Sparks) are invited to wear their uniform on Friday, November 7. Thank you in advance for donating to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign.

 POPPY CAMPAIGN

Every year, The Royal Canadian Legion and their many volunteers conduct the Poppy Campaign to raise funds in support of Veterans and their families. As part of our Copperfield School Remembrance Day Assembly each student will be provided a poppy to wear. Poppies are distributed freely, but your generous donations are invaluable. To donate you can send money with your child on November 7 and the donations will be collected prior to the assembly by our Grade 5’s.

VETERANS FOOD DRIVE

The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary is a service provided by CALGARY VETERANS SERVICES SOCIETY, founded in August 2018, to serve food security and other resource needs of veterans from Calgary and surrounding area. The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary supports veterans who served in all branches of the Canadian Armed Forces, Reserves and first responders.

Copperfield School will be collecting food donations starting on October 31 through until November 7, 2025. If you can donate food items, it would be appreciated. Items that are urgently needed are canned soup and meats and chili/stew, rice and beans, granola bars, pancake mix, hamburger helper, plastic wrap, toilet paper, mac and cheese, and canned fruit and vegetables. Thank you for your support.

Our brave veterans worked hard to keep us safe — now it’s our turn to help them!

DRESSING FOR THE FALL WEATHER

With the incredible weather we have been having it is hard to believe it is Fall. However, we know that Fall weather is approaching, and students need to be prepared for changing weather. Please ensure your child is dressed in layers to support the outdoor learning and recess opportunities we offer each day. This is a great time to remind all students to swing by the lost and found to find those items they left outdoors during a warm lunch break.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

Welcome back families!

During the time away, we had to postpone our AGM. It is now scheduled for November 19 at 6:30pm at the school. Everyone is welcome to attend.

This is an important night as we will dissolve our current School Council and Fundraising Association and re-elect new members.

Are you wanting a say to the types of Fundraisers we do, or how we are spending the money? We are a small group of parents who care a lot about our children's education and would love to hear from you.

We have quite a few openings this year. If you are interested in learning more about the roles prior to the meeting, you are welcome to email us at copperfieldschoolfundraising@gmail.com or copperfieldschoolcouncil@gmail.com with any questions.
