Update
We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School. We finished last week with a very exciting community building assembly, which celebrated the generosity of Copperfield School. Copperfield students raised an incredible $2450.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation. This meant that 9 teachers honoured their agreement and received a whip cream pie in the face. It was a great opportunity for all of us to laugh, have some fun and come together for a good cause.
At Copperfield School one of our greatest priorities is ensuring that all our students arrive safely to school. Please report all late and/or absent students. Send emails to copperfield@cbe.ab.ca or call our attendance line at 403-817-3512 extension 1 to leave a message. If your child will be away for several days for any reason, emailing or calling the school with dates for an extended absence is required. When a student is away on extended leave of two weeks or more, an Extended Absence Form must be completed by a legal guardian.
Please join us! Copperfield School Council welcomes all members of Copperfield School who are interested in learning more about school activities, supporting student learning and collaborating with a great group of council members. We will be having our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30pm.
Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Mike Magowan
Principal, Copperfield School
Student Pickup and Drop Off Reminders
Families are reminded not use the staff parking lot for dropping off students or picking up students at any time. This practice is a safety concern for children, as we have many students crossing the parking lot entrance/exit in the morning and after school. There are families who require accessibility spaces in the parking lot and have notified the office of these requirements and are expected to be in those provided spaces. If you or your child require accessibility access to this area please contact the office directly. Otherwise all families please refrain from using the staff parking lot for drop off or pick up.
Drivers are reminded to please obey all parking signs, bussing zones and bylaws near the crosswalk to ensure the safety and visibility of our students as they cross. As well, we ask drivers to please avoid making U-Turns in front of the school, backing into our neighbours’ driveways and from sending your student directly across the street from your car. Drivers are not to park within 5 metres of a marked crosswalk and are reminded to approach crosswalks slowly and with caution.
Halloween
At Copperfield School students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes in the afternoon on Tuesday October 31. Kindergarten AM students can wear their costumes in the morning. Students are able to wear face paint all day and change into their costumes after lunch. Students should keep important items for their costume at home, no weapons should be brought to school, and for safety reasons students are to wear their mask on top of their head. If having a classroom celebration, students will be invited to bring their own special snack rather than shared food items. Please do not send in shared food items as we have many dietary restrictions to take into consideration. Teachers will share further Halloween classroom updates via their blogs as we near the date.
