Message from Admin
We have had a great week of learning at Copperfield School. Our Grade 3 classes hosted a very moving Terry Fox Assembly which prompted reflection about being courageous and taking risks. Following the assembly, the students did a great job participating in the Terry Fox Run around the Wildflower Pond and enjoyed our Pie in the Face Assembly for raising over $1000. Currently, we have $1500 raised and are accepting donations next week as well.
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation across Canada. Copperfield School staff and students will engage in learning opportunities throughout the week of September 22 to September 26 to honour Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day. Learning within classrooms and through assemblies will focus on honouring and establishing awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters.” The Grade 4 classes will be hosting an assembly on Friday September 26 at 8:30am honouring Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day. All students will be invited to wear orange on Friday, September 26.
Have a great weekend. Copperfield has heart!
Sincerely,
Colette Pedde and Jon Patry
AFTER SCHOOL PLAYGROUND BEHAVIOUR
We have noticed that some students are not going directly home after school and instead are going to the school playground. Parents and daycare providers have reported concerning behaviors, such as students hitting each other with sticks, running into the street near traffic, and climbing and standing on top of the monkey bars.
For your child’s safety, it is important that students who are not accompanied by an adult go straight home and check in with their caregivers before returning to school. Please note that we do not provide supervision after school hours.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children safe.
SCHOOL CLOTHING ORDER
Thank you to our School Council for putting together our School Clothing order. It is due at midnight on September 29
