Update

We look forward to another great week of learning at Copperfield School.  December is always an extremely busy time for everyone, and it is a month that includes special traditions and celebrations for many of our families. This can be a magical season for many, and also a time of great need and stress for many more.  Students at Copperfield continue to focus on kindness and the opportunity to give back. The community project led by our students in Grade 5 in support of the Mustard Seed is an excellent opportunity for members of our community to give back to others in Calgary. Copperfield School is collecting donations for the Mustard Seed during the Winter Celebration and up until December 15, 2023. As well, our students will collaborate with their buddy classes to create a special message to share with seniors living in neighbouring facilities. We hope these simple acts of kindness will help all of us to understand the differences we can make in our world. I continue to be in awe of the kindness and generosity of our community. Thank you for helping to make the world around us a better place.

Copperfield has heart!

Sincerely,

Mike Magowan

Principal, Copperfield School

Recorders (Grade 3, 4 & 5 only)

This year the recorder unit will begin in February for all students in Grades 3, 4 and 5.  The school has a limited number of loaner recorders however they would only be used during class time. We recommend each student order a recorder if they do not already own one. Cost of the recorder and music book will be $10.00, payable through your MyCBE account.

1. Click on Student Fees and Service Registration

2. Select School based optional fees

3. Add Recorder to cart

4. Pay for fee

All ordering for recorders must be in and paid for prior to Friday, January 19, 2024, to ensure your child has a recorder for February.

The book that comes with the fee will stay at home for practicing and the recorder is to 'live in your backpack'.

Lost and Found

The lost and found is overflowing! Have your student check for lost items. Lost and found will be on display at all Winter Concerts as well. As a reminder, remaining items will be donated to local charities at noon on December 22.

School Council

The next School Council meeting is January 24 at 6:30pm. We would love for you to join. Meetings are full of useful information about the school, upcoming events, budget, and spending. Meetings will be in person, at the school, and all are welcome to attend. Babysitting will not be provided.

ONGOING FUNDRAISERS!

There are many ways you can contribute to the school's fundraising through everyday initiatives. Check out the list of ongoing initiatives here:

HEALTHY HUNGER

Students have the option to order a treat snack and lunch once per month. The next Fun Lunch is Opa on January 10, and the next Snack Day is Cobs on January 24. There will be no snack day in December. Orders must be placed 6 days in advance and can be placed by creating an account or signing into your existing Healthy Hunger account and adding your student. Parent volunteers are what make these events so successful, and we would love to have anyone that is interested in volunteering and has their volunteer paperwork and CBE clearance come join us. Volunteer sign up for these events can be done here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050449A5aB2DA7FF2-44674929-healthy#/
